Our Mission and Legacy
The Eric L. Moore Foundation is a nonprofit organization committed to promoting human wellbeing through multiple paths, including the giving of gifts to existing exemplary charitable organizations.
A key focus of the foundation is to aid wrongfully convicted individuals in reclaiming their freedom while advocating for impactful justice reform. Eric L. Moore, wrongfully convicted in the 1990s, tirelessly fought to prove his innocence without legal representation, ultimately achieving full exoneration and expungement of all charges. Eric’s mission is further inspired by the story of Darryl Hunt, a fellow Winston-Salem resident and justice advocate who endured 20 years of wrongful imprisonment before DNA evidence proved his innocence. The Eric L. Moore Foundation honors both Eric and Darryl’s legacies by championing the cause of the wrongfully convicted and working to reform a justice system that too often perpetuates wrongful imprisonment and racial injustice.
Together, we are paving the way toward a future where fairness, compassion, and dignity are the standard. Through our work, we believe a more just world is not only possible—it’s within reach.
